David Morales 1993.05.21 @ Haçienda 11th Birthday Party

A timeless set from David Morales recorded at the 11th Birthday Party night back in 1993.  Seemlessly mixed and full of energy.  Morales played in the basement of the club; a dark, dirty and hedonistically sweaty room perfect for messing with the mind, body and soul! playing tracks from MAW, Todd Terry, Pfantasy and Marshall Jefferson to name a few.

To quote 'Trackhead' to whom I owe thanks for the original upload of this set 'Stripped to the waist, wearing a skull cap & tattooed muscles, Morales played street tough New York City house music, and there's lessons in here for modern DJs'.... Morales rocked and always will do!!

Sadly as far as I can recall, Morales never played the Haçienda again due to a joyless squirmish involving the throwing of a bottle!  At least we have this superb set to remind us how great these nights were, how Morales ruled the dancefloors and once again another Haç memory for us all to enjoy.

Graeme Park 1993.10.02 @ Haçienda Manchester Tape X

Another Internet exclusive for BLOG51.  1993 was a volatile time in the Haçienda, still rammed to the hilt, a heady dance floor atmosphere swaying with students and designer clad clubbers, but there was an edge to the place, especially the door, once in though it was a different matter - our space.  Other clubs had opened in Manchester, Home and the Paradise factory offering alternative clubbing experiences but for us there was still only one venue.... the Haçienda and this tape shows why.  Classic vocal and house cuts dominated the sound system and kept it our soul! focus... superb

Graeme Park 1993.03 @ Haçienda, Manchester

'Superb' to quote Mr Parky himself.... A tasty mix of older house and vocal slabs from '93.  A recently acquired set that sets a standard for this year, dominated by vocal house and garage.  Haçienda nights at their finest.

Greame Park 1993.04 @ Radio 1 Hot Mix with Brothers In Rhythm & Sasha

A little taster for a double pack tomorrow (Easter Sunday).  This is a hot little mix from 3 off the biggest names in clubland at the time.  Graeme Park just delivered tasty treats time after time.  Such was his influence and such was the pull of the Haçienda that he was invited to play on Radio 1 by Pete Tong.  Friday and Saturday's were essential listening back in the day, they certainly provided us with our soundtrack for the weekend, Pete played the most upfront cuts, inports and white labels - so far ahead of the game thta set the template for dance on radio  for years to come.  Graeme plays another of my favs, Eddie Flashin' Foulkes 'Turn me Out' pure class loved this in The Haçienda.  Thanks to Brady for the original share and the track list, it is a great set.

Tom Wainwright 1993.05 @ Haçienda Manchester

The first of several Tom Wainwright that I am adding to BLOG51 over the next few weeks leading up to Easter.  This has been on my stereo system all morning.  Gritty US House with funky vocals.  Tom was headlining on a regular basis around this time with Graeme off playing venues like Decandance, Renaissance and Ministry Of Sound.  You can hear why in this set, building with instrumentals, a few more commercial elements and pure solid US vocals and dubs.  Excellent stuff for a spring morning.

Graeme Park 1993 @ Haçienda Manchester Tape 2

I don't know the exact date of this one, to be honest I don't remember much about 1993 except that we were spending our clubbing moments in between Venus in Nottingham on a Friday and the Haçienda on a Saturday.  This set is dirty simple as that.  Pumping vocal, deep house and garage that flows relentlessly.  Definitely a set to be played late at night.  If anyone can let me know roughly what month it was from it would be appreciated.

Andrew Weatherall 1993.07 @ Haçienda Manchester

This set I have had for many years now and never listened to it before last night.  How I missed out! An excellent set tailored by Andrew Weatherall of 'Loaded' and 'Don't fight It Feel It' remixes of Primal Scream fame.  1993 saw the introduction of many new names at the Haçienda, American DJ's such as Todd Terry who became a Hacienda favoutire, Roger Sanchez, and home grown DJ's such as Danny Hussain and Andrew Weatherall.  Topped with resident DJ's Graeme Park and Tom Wainwright the music policy had never been richer and this shows why!

As I said, I haven't heard this before last night - I wish I had been there.... download and enjoy

Tom Wainwright 1993.12.31 @ Haçienda Manchester NYE

I had to share a set from the Haçienda on New Year's Eve.... this is a fine set from Tom Wainwright who I definitely think rocked the Haçienda throughout 1993 and into 1994.  His mixing style was impeccable using dubs alongside vocal US House cuts to build and dominate the floor

What ever you do tonight, enjoy this set and have a great time.... best wishes for the forth coming year and be sure to visit BLOG51 in the new year for more great Haçienda moments, and some more Haçienda exclusives
